Year 10 step back in time to Jane Austen's...

Frocks and fancy fans were the order of the day when English teachers gave a lecture to contextualise year 10’s study of Jane Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’.
The spectacular launch of this key text was led by Ms. Hughes in full Regency regalia – quite a brave feat, taking into account a necessary detour outside, in front of the entire school, for a fire alarm practice.
As well as some historical and political background on the period Jane Austen was writing in, students were given a lively introduction to Byronic hero Darcy and well-loved heroine Elizabeth Bennett, with several brave souls parading around with fans and other accessories of the time period.
