Our library is a bright, welcoming space, putting reading for purpose at the heart of the school

The National Year of Reading 2026 is the biggest campaign in a generation designed to help more people (re)discover the joy of reading and make it part of their everyday lives.
This is a Department for Education initiative, partnered with the National Literacy Trust and many other organisations, all with reading at their core. The campaign asks the nation to 'Go All In' on their passions and interests for 2026, and discover how reading can unlock the things they already love - if you're in to it, read into it!
Look out for a range of reading-related events and activities in school. Explore the school Library and your local public library to read around things you already love and discover new passions. Above all - Go All In!
All the basics at great prices
Up to two fiction and two non-fiction books at the same time. If the book you’d like is out, it can be reserved for you. Books are issued for two weeks. You can renew to stop your book going overdue!
The library is a space for quiet reading, study and playing board games. Please show consideration to other users and keep the noise level low. No food or drinks are allowed in the library. Poor behaviour may result in you being asked to leave.
We have signed up to use a website that holds archives for almost all national and local newspapers in the UK. This is the website link http://newslibrary.newspapersforschools.co.uk
Please see Ms Wyld for login information.
Every year we shadow the Carnegie book award. This takes place during the Spring and is a great chance to read some of the best fiction published and vote for your favourite.
We hold book events throughout the year, so keep an eye out for the next one! We celebrate Roald Dahl Day each year with our year 7 students, and for the whole school we love World Book Day. Waterstones also come along every year with loads of books for our very own bookshop, with everything at a discounted price.
Author visits can be a truly inspiring experience, and we have been very lucky to host some well-known authors such as Tom Palmer, Sarah Hagger-Holt, Alistair Chisholm and of course former student Huw Powell.
If you need help, ask Ms Wyld, she can advise on what books you’ve got out, help you with research, or with finding a great read.
