Year 10s learn the etiquette of Jane Austen's time in GCSE English

Year 10 students conducted themselves with grace and elegance this week as they peramubulated around the English Faculty to take part in the annual 'How to be a Regency Lady Competition'.
As part of their English literature GCSE all students read Austen's Pride and Prejudice.  Teaching them the arts of singing, dancing and deportment, diction, painting and, of course, fan flirting (how else can one attract a husband at the assembly rooms?!), the competition enables students to imaginatively engage with life as a lady in the early nineteenth century.
