North Somerset Athletics

8 and 9 athletes in action at interschool competition

The sun was certainly out for this event, on Wednesday 24th May.  The event was being held for the first time at Yate Athletics Track, so the students had the opportunity to use some top facilities.  This competition is always really tough, with many of the competitors already competing at club and regional level outside of school.

Running on a tartan track, the times were going to be quick and there were a number of PB’s from all athletes.

Notable performances from St Kath’s were from Charlton Milligan, in the 100m from Year  8 with a PB of 13:03 secs, Molly Jackson (year 8) in the 200m coming 3rd in her heat, Max Andrews (year 8) finishing 2ndin  200m, Priscilla Lumoso (year 9) finishing 2nd in shot put and Finley King (year 8) finishing 3rd in high jump.

However the performance of the day was from Ashya Gray, who won the Year 9 Long jump, with an incredible distance of 5.50m, which has prompted his selection for North Somerset in the Avon Athletics Championships on June 10th.
