Year 12 and 13s do St Katherine's proud at...

Students made sure the show went on despite an injury set-back

St Katherine’s 6th form students performed at this year’s dance festival at the Playhouse Theatre in Weston-super-Mare -for some it was their fourth year running at the event!

Each year the festival committee give participating schools a theme to create their pieces, this year it was ‘Dance United’. Year 13 student, Erin Pearce successfully choreographed two dances for the group to perform, ‘Together’ by Ella Eyre and a mashup of the groups favourite Beyonce songs.

The students spent Term 4 rehearsing in their own time after school to execute two high energy pieces at the festival. Unfortunately on the day of the show they lost Liam Silcox, an exceptional dancer from year 11, due to injury. However, the group didn’t let it phase them and they stepped up to ensure it was still a successful day.

The students were a credit to St Katherine’s School, behaving exceptionally as well as supporting the younger pupils taking part in the festival. Erin, Ella and Emily all helped to collect donations for the committee, speaking to relatives and friends of other schools who had come to support.

Following this performance, the students are entering the North Somerset Dance Festival on Saturday 3rd June 2017 competing against other secondary schools for a first place trophy. Tickets for this will be on sale shortly at £3 per entry to the festival which will have a variety of free dance classes on offer as well as being able to come and support!
