MP visit on International Democracy Day
We were delighted to welcome Sadik Al-Hassan, Member of Parliament for North Somerset, to St Katherine's School. - It was particularly fitting as he visited on 15th September, International Democracy Day, when our weekly theme was democracy and elections for Tutor Group Representatives were taking place.
Sadik spent time talking to students about his own background and how he became an MP. He encouraged young people to engage with local and national politics, as well as global current affairs. Sadik also met with Mr Humphreys, Headteacher, and Mr Harding, Chair of Governors.
Head student Theeban said: "It was amazing to have Sadik Al-Hassan come into school, he spoke on a lot of very interesting topics, all relevant to our current political climate, as well as sharing his own personal route into politics. Sadik was really friendly and listened and responded to everyone's questions"
